Hospital Mis-diagnoses?

On Sunday my son woke up & his left eye was swollen & had crust around it.All day he wouldn't open either eye & was really lathargic.I took him to a hospital that afternoon & all they said was that he had a bacterial infection in his eye.They gave me some ointment to put in his eye & sent us home. They didn't run any blood tests or anything.I put it in his eye before I put him to bed.The next morning we had to wake him up.He still wouldn't open either eye & then we were wiping his eye out & stuff started squerting out of it.I then rushed him to another hospital.They ran blood tests, did a spinal tap, x-rays and a CT.They then transported him to Children's Hospital Oakland and he was there for 3 days.They said he was severly dehidrated along with the infection in his eye.They are still waiting on a test to see if everything was caused by a cat scratch.So the first hospital mis-diagnosed my son. I lost a week of work because of their lack of concern.My son could have died. Suggestions?
